To anyone who has'nt seen the BBC show Top Gear, the names Jeremy, Captain Slow, Hamster and The Stig means nothing. To the rest of the civilized world though, they usually spell trouble.

The team will do things like crossing the English channel by means of a Nissan pickup with an out board motor strapped to it or they will pit a Land rover against an army tank.

The one challenge that interested me was when they crossed Botswana with three cars that they bought for £1500 each.

I took interest in the car Richard Hammond was driving, the car named Oliver. It is a 1970-something Opel Kadet that he had bought in South Africa for the challenge, and afterwards took back to England. The car was undoubtedly the best even though the winner in the end was the VW Beetle (the backup car)

So while watching the show, for some inexplicable reason, I took down the registration numbers for the three vehicles, thinking I could find out who owned them before. Only the next day I really thought that I should look up Oliver's history and find out more about him.

So this morning I made contact with the Hamster and will start research as soon as I get an OK and then I will share my findings.

Until then, anyone reading this should go on the Interweb and try and find out about dear Oliver. He is truely amazing.
